 1) Type up your feedback from your teacher in full.

  • Fantastic choice of clip!
  • Good performance - expression and make-up particularly impressive here. Props good too (toy telephone added to comedy but perhaps lost a little in terms of the recreation!)
  • Impressive attention to detail - clear you analysed the scene in detail.
  • EBI - focus


2) Use the feedback you've been given to write your own self-assessment of your video using WWW (What Went Well) and EBI (Even Better If...)

WWW: I had good facial expressions. Costume and make-up was on point, and so was the setting and lighting.

EBI: The camera went out of focus at some parts, so I need to make sure that the lighting compliments the focus of the camera.


3) Now reflect on your own work in more detail. How did your planning help clarify and develop your ideas?


I watched the scene multiple times and made a shot list of all the shots within that clip. I also made a note of all the CLAMPS, every time the camera angle changed, I checked if the setting was placed differently. One I had that done, I wrote the script down so I could read/rehearse the line.


4) Thinking technically, how could you improve your work for future videos? (E.g. filming, editing, etc.)

Check the focus as this changes with the lighting. Mine went out of focus due to the dark lighting.


5) Finally, what have you learned regarding the importance of mise-en-scene in film and television? Write a paragraph to answer this.

Just without any dialogue or any movements from camerawork, just by looking at a picture ( a still image) you can tell what the story is behind it due to the mise-en-scene. Mise-en-scene consists of : costume, lighting, actor/placement/movement, make-up, props and setting (CLAMPS). It helps create a mood and atmosphere for the audience for what the director etc. are trying to portray.
